"What Drew You To the Church?"
This week we asked five people from Melbourne, Australia: "What Drew You To the Church?"
| Michael, 53 years old I knew in my heart that this was the place. I was getting help from what I heard. |
Lily, 52 years old Our children went to the same school as some children from a family in the church. I noticed a purity in these children. They were “in the world” but not “of the world.” I wanted the same life as this family; I wanted to be able to bring up my children in that way.
| Ernest, 55 years old I was in need over my own sin and looking for help. I heard the teaching of “Christ manifest in the flesh” and saw that this was the way to become free from sin. I could see the life people were living and that the doctrine led to a life of godliness. |
Cheryl, 53 years old My first impression was that of fellowship and warmth. I got “heart to heart contact” with the people there, and not just with people my own age (I was 19 years old) but with people much older than me. I then decided to stay because the literature I read gave me help for my life.
| Andrew, 43 years old It was a progression of things. I was looking for something more, and in the church, I found a life I could never have imagined. |
