Norway
The history of Brunstad Christian Church begins in Norway (More on this can be found in the article titiled, "Our History"). During World War I, Norwegian Naval personnel patrolled the coast of Norway, and Johan O. Smith was among these troops. Thus, he came in contact with believers in many different places, and as a result of his work, churches began to evolve in Brevik Kristiansand, Stavanger, Stord, Bergen, Måløy and Molde. In addition, many contacts were made along the coast of Finnmark (Norway's northernmost province).
In the 1930‘s, evangelists within the church began to travel to the valleys in Norway, and today there are churches in Valdres and Hallingdal, as well as other locations. There has been a church in Oslo since 1912. Today Norway has about 20 local churches. More information on these chuches can be found in the column on the left-hand side of the page.
The church's most important meeting place is Brunstad Conference Center in Norway. There we schedule international conferences that include friends from our local churches all over the world.
