In July 2008, the Brunstad Christian Church  Forum was opened at Brunstad—a center for those who would like to know more about Brunstad Christian Church's history and faith. 

Any history of the church must begin with Johan Oscar Smith.  Smith was born in Fredrikstad, Norway in 1871 and grew up in a Christian home.  He went to sea for several years before joining the Norwegian Navy at age 17.  He continued to serve in the Norwegian Navy for nearly 40 years.

During World War I, Norwegian naval personnel patrolled the coast of Norway, and Johan O. Smith was among these troops.

Since 1957, the conference center in Brunstad, Norway has been our largest international meeting place.  More than 8000 people gather there from over 30 different countries for the annual summer conference.
