How do you start a new day?
After I get up, I read God’s word and pray that I can be ready for each temptation that comes, no matter how small it is so that I can purify myself and glorify our Heavenly Father. I also pray for all my “brothers” and “sisters” in the church in Schalkwijk. In fact, I pray for all my “brothers” and “sisters” throughout the world. I pray and thank God from the depths of my heart for godly men who bring us the glad and true tidings. I praise God for their faithfulness. I also pray for my children and grandchildren.
What else do you do during the day?
Before, when I had a car, I often visited young families and if necessary, I watched over their children when they the parents had someplace to go. However, I don’t do that anymore. The young people have taken over that task. Sometimes I visit younger and older families that live nearby. Otherwise, I continue with translation. I translate church literature from Dutch to Croatian. I also correspond with my sister who lives in Pancevo, Serbia. Recently I translated a report from the Brunstad summer conference and sent it by email to what was previously Yugoslavia. I also sent it via mail to elderly people who don’t have computers or Internet. I have decided to do things like that even more.
Are you satisfied with your life?
Yes! I am very happy to still be alive, and I am very thankful for my heavenly calling. Each day I learn more and more to look not at the things which are seen, but at things which are unseen. (2 Cor. 4:18). I have become very happy because I sense that I am becoming increasingly more thankful and at peace inside. I see things that need to be purified in myself more and more quickly. I praise God that I have received the spirit of truth to cleanse away everything that is not of Him. I am often plagued by anxiety, but when I started to understand that anxiety is sin, I experienced that I overcame it again and again. I praise Jesus for the way that He opened which leads to Zion.
