When the media speaks about Brunstad Christian Church, they sometimes use the unofficial designation “Smith’s Friends” (or Smiths Venner in Norway) while the members generally refer to themselves as “The Church” and “The Friends”. To properly explain this, we need to refer to the days of the founder, Johan O. Smith.
