“There have been many avenues explored and attempted to bring about unity. But there is only one way to do that,” explains Sam Petkau in the video above.
Unless we have crucified the flesh with its lusts and desires, we don’t belong to Jesus. One of the strongest lusts in a human being is to be right. And if I stay by myself, then I can still be right, but when I start to associate with other people … then I find out that in spite of the fact that I wanted to do something good, there was something that came along that was not right,” explains Petkau.
“When the thing that was hard for him to receive, I deal with it – let that go into death – then, what can separate me from my brother? There lies unity” Petkau continues. “If you continue in that way, you come to the unity of the faith, and that is the brotherhood of Jesus Christ.”
“Read the Word of God and find out what it actually says. Open yourself up,” Petkau exhorts. “The Word of God is living, so it constantly has something new to say to us.”
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)
