For the first time, Brunstad Christian church in India has its own conference centre. Located in southern India in Angamaly, Kerala, this new conference centre was opened on the 4th of May 2012. The opening was attended by friends from Brunstad Christian Church in India and all over the world.
Alwaye Conference Centre (ACC) has two new buildings apart from the youth and children's play area and sports facilities. Local government authorities and neighbours, who also graced this momentous occasion, were impressed to see what had been developed on what once was farmland.
The centre was bustling with activity up to the last few weeks before the inauguration, as construction workers rushed to give finishing touches to the buildings, and the friends worked hard to make it a memorable time for one and all.
Many doctrines, but only one life
At the inauguration, Kåre J. Smith spoke about the fact that there are various doctrines preached around the world, but there is only one life. And this was the life that Jesus lived while on the earth before He even preached it (1 John. 1, 1-3). This life is also possible for every person, ever since Jesus opened up this way Himself by living a sinless life, though He had the same body and tendencies as any human being.
The celebration that followed in the evening was a festive occasion with films about the conference centre and the fathers in Christ, a panel discussion, choirs, a performance by the children, speeches by thankful friends and a fireworks display to wind up the night. An edifying conference followed on the weekend for all who had gathered there from around India and the world.
Priyanka from Mumbai, who worked especially with the splendid children’s performance, couldn’t hold back her words, “I heard about how I could make it a habit to judge myself at all times, irrespective of the reactions of the others around me. I could easily sense the spirit of humility in the elders who were amongst us. They were simple people who had absolutely no high thoughts about themselves. They have been a tremendous example to me.”
ACC and the Future
ACC will be a haven for conferences and fun activities for all those who have a desire to be free from sin and those who have already experienced the joy of this life (1 John 1, 4).
Benjamin from Chittoor summed it all up, “I’m filled with thankfulness to God for the faithful brothers in Christ who have laboured in the vineyard of India as co-workers of God, and for the incredible contributions of all the friends of Brunstad Christian Church.”
