Paso Flores, Rio Negro – Patagonia: Young people from Argentina and Chile get together for a youth weekend.
Every year, the youth from Argentina and Chile get together to do different activities and to share God’s Word. This year was no exception, but this time it had a new twist.
Our conference center at Paso Flores is nearly finished, and the young people are therefore eager to use this weekend to help build the center.
The first day, everyone was given a task; some cleaned or made food, while others helped with different building jobs.
In the evening, we gathered for a youth meeting. We heard about 1 John 3:1 where it is written, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.” And verse 3 it says, “And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”
The future awaiting those who cleanse themselves is indescribably good.
This gospel has created a longing in our hearts to see our heavenly Father as He is. We were strengthened and encouraged to do whatever it takes so that we are worthy of meeting Him; to cleanse ourselves from all the egotism that is in our flesh. The future awaiting those who cleanse themselves is indescribably good.
Early the next morning, the time came for action and excitement. We were able to go rafting on the Manso river, which is the border between Argentina and Chile. For many people it was the first time they had done this, and they probably had a little extra adrenalin. Some fell into the water, while others threw themselves in; everyone worked together to make sure the raft stayed on course down the river. At the end we went through some nice rapids, before we headed back to Paso Flores.
The following day we continued working at the conference center. The atmosphere during the weekend was one of a strong drive to work, as well as fun; it is a weekend that we will look back on with fond memories.
