Jesus can heal our soul

Jesus didn’t come for those who are “successful” and “healthy”, but for the sick.

Jesus is the Great Physician, which means He can heal both our soul and our body. Many people have experienced Jesus' healing power for their sick bodies, but just think that Jesus can also heal our soul!

A heart kept from hatred and bitterness

Many people have painful wounds and scars from past experiences. They may be due to sad or difficult circumstances in childhood and early youth, and while some wounds are the result of choices made, others may be caused by other people.
Jesus Himself says in the Bible that “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick”. (Matt. 9:12).

Jesus can teach us to forgive all the bad things that people have done to us. Then we choose not to hold a grudge or any reproach against any person, even though this does not relieve them from the responsibility for their own actions. In this way we ourselves can be reconciled to God and to be healed from painful experiences and memories—we can be preserved with a heart that is free from hatred, bitterness and cold.

A completely new life

But we ourselves and our own bad choices also cause many of these wounds. Jesus can also heal these wounds. If we sincerely regret the wrong we have done and the bad choices we have made, Jesus will gladly forgive us and remove all our guilt, and subsequently the wound caused by the guilty feeling. We can settle our affairs with other people upon whom we may have inflicted suffering, loss or damage. We can be forgiven and can be cleansed and pure, able to live a completely new life!

Even after we begin to live a wholehearted Christian life, we will discover that bad inclinations (tendencies) dwell within us. If we follow these we will once again become sick and receive many new wounds. But as the Great Physician, Jesus can heal us from these evil inclinations. By following His life-giving instructions written in the Bible, we find that we are cured more and more from the sin that dwells within us. We are able to live a life where only the good comes out of us—for example, thankfulness rather than irritation, mildness rather than harsh words, truth and honesty instead of lies and hypocrisy and deception.

Jesus has promised us that He will give us life in abundance. What a life! What a future!
